400th Anniversary of First African Slaves to U.S.

At the suggestion of Pax Christi the Benedictine Sisters of Florida tolled their bell at 3 p.m. Sunday,  August 25, in remembrance of the 400th anniversary of the first African slaves brought to the U.S. in 1619. We prayed for healing and for an end to racism in our country. We hope our action helped others to remember and pray with us. We also included a special intention at Eucharist. These actions  may not  seem significant, but like a pebble dropped in the water, may Peace ripple out to all.
