St. Joseph, Minnesota
As the Monastery’s contribution to the Women’s Internation League for Peace and Freedom (WILPFMN) project commemorating the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Elizabeth Roberts, a lay member of St. Benedict’s Monastery, created a poster board display. Included were 75 peace cranes made by Regina Birchem, a member of the WILPFMN. Sixty more peace cranes were shared with the retirement center at St. Scholastic and another 175 were displayed in the Monastery dining room. These served as a visual reminder to us as we prayed in a special way that week for an end to the nuclear threat.
